unhistory in the making

Today we read that former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer testified in the trial of I Lewis Scooter Libby. In his testimony, he recalled a conversation with John Dickerson, then of Time Magazine. But Dickerson writes on Slate that it all just didn’t go down that way. Interestingly, Dickerson was in the courtroom when history got revised.

  1. Well, I didn't say I believe Dickerson, but you're right, I do. Because he's a journalist. His veracity is not implicitly compromised, and I like journalists, especially compared with political toadies. So I admit to unvarnished prejudice: I wouldn't believe Ari Fleischer if he said it's raining outside. Though he's maybe a notch up the moral ladder from Tony Snow.

  2. Okay, here's a question for you: Do you believe the guy who is under oath or the guy who doesn't want to be under oath?Automatically, we think that Dickerson is telling the truth. Why?
